TL;DR

Commercial Counsel (SaaS): Drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts to support global growth with an accent on legal operations and contractual workflows. Location: Must be based in the US (State Bar membership required). Hybrid in Chicago or Remote.

Salary: $168,000 - $210,000

What you will do

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of contracts, including customer, vendor, strategic partnership, and license agreements.
  • Collaborate with revenue and legal operations to automate and refine contractual workflows for optimal efficiency.
  • Serve as a strategic legal advisor to internal departments, committees, and senior management.
  • Manage and oversee relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Partner with company leadership to identify and mitigate practical and legal risks across global operations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree and active membership in good standing with a State Bar.
  • 3+ years of experience as an attorney focusing on transactional, commercial, or corporate law.
  • Strong transactional experience, preferably within a SaaS or technology company.
  • Familiarity with global data privacy and protection laws, specifically GDPR and CCPA.
  • Proven experience negotiating contracts across various risk and value levels.
  • Experience designing legal resources and iterating upon contractual playbooks.

Nice to have

  • Experience with contract management software (CMS), specifically Ironclad or Zip.
