What you will do
- Lead a team of engineers owning specific software architecture areas, taking responsibility for delivery, quality, and technical direction.
- Manage the development process, including sprint health, delivery cadence, incident response, and on-call rotations.
- Mentor and grow engineers through regular feedback, performance conversations, and stretch assignments.
- Collaborate with product teams to scope initiatives, identify risks, and prioritize deliverables.
- Maintain technical credibility to guide design discussions and spot risks early.
- Define and monitor system metrics to drive performance improvements and prevent incidents.
Requirements
- Background as a software engineer with hands-on experience building and shipping production systems.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and building effective development processes.
- Technical proficiency to evaluate design decisions and challenge assumptions.
- Comfort with operational ownership, including on-call culture and incident management.
- Clear and direct communication skills for stakeholder and leadership management.
- Must be based in one of the specified locations: UK, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or other highly regulated technical domains.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and high-throughput, high-availability infrastructure.
