What you will do
- Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team owning a specific product area end-to-end.
- Shape product requirements and translate them into actionable technical work.
- Foster a culture of high autonomy, psychological safety, and technical excellence.
- Stay technical by reviewing PRs, pairing with engineers, and contributing to non-critical code paths.
- Manage delivery through Shape Up cycles, ensuring alignment between product goals and engineering execution.
- Hire and mentor engineers to scale the team while maintaining high standards.
Requirements
- Must be based in the UK.
- Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong background in functional programming (e.g., Clojure, Elixir, Haskell, Scala).
- Deep understanding of fintech domains such as payments, banking, or card issuing.
- Experience managing complex technical tradeoffs and maintaining system correctness in financial services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with product leads and stakeholders to shape product strategy.
