What you will do

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team owning a specific product area end-to-end.
  • Shape product requirements and translate them into actionable technical work.
  • Foster a culture of high autonomy, psychological safety, and technical excellence.
  • Stay technical by reviewing PRs, pairing with engineers, and contributing to non-critical code paths.
  • Manage delivery through Shape Up cycles, ensuring alignment between product goals and engineering execution.
  • Hire and mentor engineers to scale the team while maintaining high standards.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the UK.
  • Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong background in functional programming (e.g., Clojure, Elixir, Haskell, Scala).
  • Deep understanding of fintech domains such as payments, banking, or card issuing.
  • Experience managing complex technical tradeoffs and maintaining system correctness in financial services.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product leads and stakeholders to shape product strategy.
