Engineering Manager (Reference Data, Fintech)

TL;DR

Engineering Manager (Reference Data): Lead the Reference Data team in acquiring, cleansing, modeling, and integrating market and security master data from third-party providers with an accent on scalable frameworks using PySpark, Python, AWS, Terraform, Java, Kubernetes, and microservices. Focus on building performant data ingestion and distribution systems, developing AI-native products from prototype to production, and optimizing processes for data quality and operational efficiency.

Location: Remote, USA. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $160,000 - $250,000 (base salary) + bonus + equity + benefits

What you will do

• Drive technical direction in alignment with product counterparts, engineering peers, and the wider community.
• Build and manage a team of engineers to design, develop, and deploy scalable solutions meeting client requirements.
• Act as player-coach to build frameworks for high-performance financial data ingestion/distribution and AI-native products.
• Advocate for standard methodologies, automation, and optimizations to improve throughput, latency, and accuracy.
• Develop process controls and metrics to enhance data quality and operational efficiency.
• Deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment while driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 2+ years proven experience leading engineering teams; 5+ years professional backend engineering as individual contributor.
• Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Prior experience with distributed systems, microservices, and messaging queues.
• Working knowledge of at least one OOP language (PySpark, Python, Java), relational databases, SQL, and data pipelines.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship (H-1B, F-1/OPT, etc.).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of financial concepts (stocks, bonds, etc.).
