Senior Operational Planner (Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, United States, Monday through Friday, with regular presence required in production and cleanroom environments. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology.

Base annual salary: $88,400–$121,550.

What you will do

• Own and manage end-to-end production plans across assigned work centers, aligning MRP requirements, capacity constraints, material availability, and customer delivery commitments.
• Plan, monitor, and optimize work orders to improve WIP flow, cycle time, inventory balance, and delivery performance.
• Lead production reviews, prioritization decisions, recovery planning, and cross-functional mitigation of material, capacity, and schedule risks.
• Coordinate material readiness with Procurement and Materials teams and lead engineering-change implementation, including scrap, rework, and logistics planning.
• Develop and automate Excel and BI dashboards and present data-driven risks, insights, and recommendations to management.
• Drive continuous improvement and cross-functional projects while mentoring junior planners and supporting planning-system, process, and data-quality improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Production Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or logistics within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle, and understanding of data structures that affect planning.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including XLOOKUP, advanced Pivot Tables, data modeling, data analysis, scenario modeling, and reporting automation.
• Deep understanding of MRP, capacity planning, demand and supply balancing, Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, and JIT.
• Proven experience driving process improvements, data-accuracy initiatives, or cost and efficiency optimization projects.
• Experience working in a cross-functional, fast-paced manufacturing environment with competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, influencing, stakeholder-management, prioritization, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, manage complex planning scenarios, learn and apply new systems quickly, and lead through ambiguity and change.

Nice to have

• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Power BI.
