TL;DR

Business Development Representative (GovTech): Identifying new business opportunities and building relationships with local government clients with an accent on lead generation and pipeline management. Focus on prospecting, conducting product demonstrations, and converting prospects into Sales Accepted Leads.

What you will do

  • Prospect and identify potential municipal clients through research, networking, and cold calling.
  • Qualify leads based on predefined criteria and nurture prospects through the sales pipeline.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target organizations.
  • Conduct introductory meetings and product demonstrations to educate prospects about offerings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for engaging and converting leads.
  • Track and report sales activities and performance metrics using CRM software.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or a related role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence others.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and industry events.
  • Ability to manage stress and anxiety in complex, fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience identifying and generating deals in the $25-50k ACV range within GovTech.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently increase the volume of outbound efforts.
  • Track record of setting meetings that convert to Sales Accepted Leads (SAL) and booked ARR.
  • Consistent top performance relative to peers in BDR/SDR functions.
