Orion Senior Product Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

Location: Hybrid in North Andover, Massachusetts; office attendance required Monday–Wednesday and remote work permitted Thursday–Friday. Travel to St. Paul and North Carolina is expected, with approximately 20% travel.

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Define and drive technical deliverables for Stage-Gate new product development projects.
• Investigate technologies, develop product architectures and specifications, and create technical roadmaps for process and drainage piping products.
• Lead the design process from requirements gathering through final specifications, testing, and validation.
• Gather customer feedback through interviews, visits, trade shows, conferences, and training seminars.
• Rapidly prototype product concepts, resolve technical challenges, and support design improvements.
• Coordinate with product management, sourcing, production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to deliver launches on schedule.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in product engineering, sustaining engineering, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent technical engineering certification.
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, materials science, mechanical engineering, material properties, and relevant industry standards.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, FEA, simulation, and Design of Experiments.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD solid modeling software; Autodesk Inventor is preferred.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, technical writing, presentation, collaboration, and Microsoft 365 skills; employment eligibility, background checks, and pre-employment testing are required.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of supervising or mentoring technical staff.
• Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing remote contract engineering resources.
• Customer-facing experience in technical sales, customer service, or field service.
• Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
