Senior Power Systems Engineer (Data Centers)

TL;DR

Senior Power Systems Engineer (Electrical Engineering): Modeling and simulating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for data centers and large load applications with an accent on steady state, dynamic, and transient analysis. Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) in Houston, TX or Arlington, VA. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

What you will do

• Develop models for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to perform steady state, dynamic, transient, and frequency domain simulations.
• Evaluate compliance regarding short circuit, PQ capability, voltage limits, and equipment overloading.
• Perform RMS and EMT simulations to evaluate frequency and voltage stability as well as Fault Ride Through (FRT).
• Simulate grid behavior using power systems analysis software with an emphasis on full system integration and model validation.
• Support the product team in the validation of control design concepts and stay current with large load application technologies.
• Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in electrical engineering (emphasis on power systems or renewable energy) or 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in simulation tools such as PSS®E, PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB Simulink, PSLF, or TSAT.
• Ability to automate simulations using python scripting.
• Knowledge of utility grid interconnection standards, including UL/IEEE and North American ISO/RTO requirements.
• Experience performing integration studies for data centers and large load applications.
• Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.
