Electrical Engineer III (BESS)

Location: Remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado. Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States. Some field work and 15–25% travel may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year. The posting also lists a Denver-market range of $75,000–$110,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform physical and electrical design for utility-scale battery energy storage systems in multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop equipment arrangements, single-line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bills of materials, grounding plans, conduit plans, and illumination plans.
• Build computer-based models and perform power system studies, including load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, and system loss analysis.
• Prepare material, equipment, construction specifications, project reports, cost estimates, and budget documentation.
• Review specifications, submittals, and the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for quality and accuracy.
• Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, observation reports, client coordination, and technical communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power concentration is preferred.
• 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Effective written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• FE or PE licensure is a plus but not required.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Utility-scale BESS experience.
• AutoCAD Electrical and power system study software such as PowerFactory, ETAP, CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, or Visual Lighting.
• Experience with 3D BIM design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
