What you will do

• Define and communicate a clear architectural vision for scalable, performant backend systems.
• Guide the team through complex technical migrations, such as rewriting custom middleware.
• Partner with Product Leads to balance technical debt reduction with critical business feature delivery.
• Mentor and coach Backend Engineers to simplify system complexity and advance their professional growth.
• Lead hiring and onboarding efforts to build a high-performing engineering team.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for backend architecture, API schemas, and system integrations.

Requirements

• Proven track record of executing large-scale architectural shifts like Strangler Fig migrations.
• Deep experience with high-volume data pipelines, normalization, and message queues such as SQS or RabbitMQ.
• Strong proponent of industry standards and experience replacing over-engineered custom frameworks.
• Ability to manage complex project backlogs in fast-paced e-commerce environments.
• Expertise in logging, tracing, and monitoring to improve system visibility.
