What you will do

• Own the development and scaling of the core tax engine, ensuring 100% accuracy in financial calculations.
• Build and maintain agent tooling, test infrastructure, and confidence metrics to accelerate development cycles.
• Partner closely with CPAs and tax experts to translate complex regulatory requirements into technical specifications.
• Extend and optimize APIs to support integrations with AI labs and modern accounting platforms.
• Take ownership of projects from initial specification through to production deployment and scaling.
• Work across the stack to solve complex problems involving backend services, frontend interfaces, and infrastructure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of end-to-end project ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to bridge engineering with non-engineering domains, specifically working with deep domain experts.
• Hands-on experience building systems where accuracy and edge-case handling are non-negotiable.
• AI-native fluency with a clear perspective on leveraging AI tools effectively in the development lifecycle.
• Comfortable working across the full stack, including backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
• Must be based in the US.

Nice to have

• Experience building or contributing to rules engines, calculation engines, or similar systems (e.g., payroll, billing, underwriting).
• Direct experience in the tax industry or tax technology.
