What you will do

• Define and lead technical strategy and architectural modernization for the Composer platform.
• Drive decoupling and migration efforts from legacy application dependencies while ensuring stability.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, observability, and operational resilience.
• Establish engineering standards for instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, and system performance.
• Provide technical mentorship through code reviews, design feedback, and best practices.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to support codebase navigation and platform evolution.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of experience as a Staff Engineer or senior IC supporting large-scale production platforms.
• Strong expertise with Ruby/Rails or comparable backend application frameworks.
• Proven experience leading architectural decoupling, migration, or modernization initiatives.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and application resiliency.
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring frameworks, and containerized environments.
• Must be a permanent resident of the United States to obtain and retain employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with JRuby or polyglot application environments.
• Familiarity with MongoDB or shared-database architectures.
• Experience with Cloudflare Workers or edge-computing technologies.
• Background in EdTech, SaaS, or multi-tenant platform environments.
