Staff Software Engineer, Traffic Team

What you will do

• Lead technical decision making and architecture for traffic systems
• Design and implement scalable solutions for complex problems like rate-limiting and routing
• Maintain and improve hirify.global Load Balancer and traffic management systems
• Write, review, and maintain code primarily in Go and Ruby & Rails
• Mentor other engineers on technical and architectural decisions
• Participate in on-call rotation and team meetings

Requirements

• 7-9+ years experience in Software Engineering with production software in languages like Go, Ruby, C++, Java, etc. (or equivalent with degree)
• 4+ years building and supporting large, high-traffic applications at scale in platform/infrastructure domains
• 4+ years supporting cloud native workloads in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• 2+ years maintaining a Load Balancer with experience in DDoS protection, load shedding, etc.
• Strong written communication skills for remote, distributed, asynchronous work

Nice to have

• Experience with HAProxy or other open-source Load Balancers
• 2+ years of Golang experience
• Experience building planetary-scale engineering systems
• Experience working with remote, distributed teams
