What you will do

• Own backend services end-to-end, from data modeling and API design to background processing.
• Drive architectural decisions for the Corporate Carbon Footprint module alongside senior leadership.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data-intensive workflows using Postgres and caching strategies.
• Set engineering standards through code reviews, refactoring, and disciplined technical debt management.
• Collaborate with product managers and sustainability experts to translate domain requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Mentor team members and participate in hiring and onboarding processes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend development with expert-level Ruby on Rails skills.
• Deep experience with Postgres at scale, including schema design, query optimization, and indexing.
• Must be based in the EU (CET ±1) with a valid work permit.
• Fluent in English with clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Track record of designing and evolving backend systems in data-heavy production environments.
• Passion for climate crisis solutions and customer-oriented development.

• Startup or scale-up experience.
• Experience in data-heavy or audit-relevant domains.
• Expertise in ClickHouse, CDC, or Kubernetes.
• Degree in computer science or a related field.
