Salary: $215,000 - $245,000 annually

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on complex state and federal laws including HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and the No Surprises Act.
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory guidance from federal agencies such as HHS, DOL, and IRS.
• Review and ensure compliance of health plan documents, including SPDs, COCs, and member contracts.
• Serve as a key legal advisor for the development and launch of new health plan products and features.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate regulatory compliance into product design.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and conduct internal regulatory training.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in good standing of at least one state bar.
• 5+ years of legal practice with significant experience advising on health plan regulatory matters.
• Deep knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, No Surprises Act, and MHPAEA.
• Familiarity with state insurance laws applicable to fully insured and self-funded health plans.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and professional communication skills.
• Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid capacity in Minneapolis, MN.
