Legal Counsel (Fintech)

TL;DR

Legal Counsel (Fintech): Drafting and negotiating complex contracts for a Brokerage-as-a-Service platform with an accent on securities, capital markets, and banking law. Location: Hybrid in Berlin, Germany. Must be a fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) and based in Germany.

Brokerage-as-a-Service platform providing digital access to capital markets through a single API, enabling FinTechs and banks to offer investment products.

What you will do

• Draft complex contracts from scratch for novel investment products in a non-standard infrastructure space.
• Review and negotiate agreements with partners and counterparties, including German-speaking entities.
• Act as a legal checkpoint for Product and Sales teams to translate concepts into feasible offerings.
• Monitor and integrate regulatory developments in securities, capital markets, and banking law into contract language.
• Support the General Counsel in shaping the company's legal strategy and European expansion.
• Advise senior leadership as a subject-matter expert and deputy to the General Counsel.

Requirements

• Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) with 3 to 8 years of PQE.
• Hands-on expertise in securities law (Wertpapierrecht), capital markets law, and/or banking law.
• C1 level proficiency in both German and English (near-native) for high-level negotiation.
• Strong foundations in contract law and ability to draft agreements without existing templates.
• Ability to communicate complex legal requirements in plain language to engineers and product managers.
• Must be based in Germany to support a hybrid model.

Nice to have

• Experience gained at a major law firm, Fintech, or Banking environment.
