Commercial Legal Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Remote, with an office in Berlin; working permit in Germany required

What you will do

• Own commercial contracting across platform, borrower, supplier, and product-facing agreements.
• Partner with product leads to translate product roadmaps into term sheets, customer-facing terms, partner schedules, and scalable contractual frameworks.
• Build contract management infrastructure, including AI-assisted redline workflows, clause libraries, playbooks, version control, and internal legal knowledge systems.
• Negotiate cloud, data, and outsourced-service supplier agreements, focusing on liability, intellectual property, data protection, and exit terms.
• Embed DORA, GDPR, sub-processor, outsourcing, and vendor-risk requirements into reusable commercial clauses.
• Evaluate and integrate legal AI tools such as Claude, Codex, Noxtua, and Legora into daily workflows.

Requirements

• Graduate of a top-tier EU, UK, or US law school and qualified or qualifying in a relevant jurisdiction.
• At least one year of experience in Big Law or in-house at a technology company, fintech, SaaS business, or financial institution.
• Direct experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Working permit in Germany required.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, commercial, and legal stakeholders.
• Strong systems thinking, legal precision, commercial judgment, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with finance, regulated products, or commercial contracting subject to supervisory requirements.
• Practical experience evaluating or implementing legal AI tooling.
