TL;DR
Lead Legal Counsel, Group DPO (Fintech): Defining and executing Bitpanda Group’s global data protection strategy across a regulated multi-asset investment platform with an accent on GDPR compliance, supervisory authority engagement, and privacy governance for blockchain and AI initiatives. Focus on designing the enterprise data protection management system, leading breach and DSAR responses, negotiating international data transfers, and monitoring regulatory controls across Europe, the UK, and the UAE.
Location: Berlin, Germany. Hybrid working model combining onsite collaboration and remote work, with an additional 25 days per year available from a city or country of choice.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and continuously improve the Group’s enterprise-level data protection management system.
- Act as Group Data Protection Officer and primary contact for supervisory authorities across Europe, the UK, and the UAE.
- Advise C-suite, engineering, and product teams on privacy issues involving GDPR, blockchain technology, and AI.
- Own the data protection control framework, oversee monitoring and testing, and drive remediation of identified gaps.
- Lead complex DSAR escalations, personal data breach response, data processing agreement negotiations, and international data transfers.
- Translate regulatory developments into business strategies and lead privacy training and awareness initiatives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in data protection, including experience as an appointed Data Protection Officer.
- Experience with complex regulatory environments involving digital assets and regulated financial services.
- Ability to provide commercially viable legal advice and manage competing priorities.
- Fully fluent English and German at C1 level or higher are required.
- Experience across international law firms, regulatory authorities, or in-house legal and privacy departments is advantageous.
