TL;DR

VP of Non-QM Underwriting (Fintech): Managing and supporting the Non-QM underwriting department to ensure SLA adherence and loan quality with an accent on complex scenario resolution and second-level reviews. Focus on mentoring underwriting staff, optimizing pipeline productivity, and ensuring strict compliance with FHA, VA, and Conventional guidelines.

Location: Must operate within Pacific Time or Mountain Time zone working hours to support the West Coast region.

Salary: $160,000 - $175,000 per year

What you will do

  • Manage a team of approximately five to ten underwriting professionals.
  • Provide guidance and solutions for complex loan-level escalations and perform second-level mortgage reviews.
  • Monitor the underwriting pipeline to ensure overall productivity and adherence to set SLAs.
  • Maintain and report underwriter bonus metrics.
  • Coach and mentor underwriting staff to enhance technical skills and performance.
  • Coordinate with operations and sales staff to maintain high levels of customer service.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional) with agency guideline knowledge.
  • 3+ years of Underwriting management experience.
  • Working knowledge of ATR/QM requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

  • Direct Endorsement status from HUD and/or SAR authority from VA.
  • Experience with USDA loans.
  • Experience using Encompass LOS.
