What you will do

• Conduct materials testing including tensile, bend, impact, and hardness tests on metals.
• Machine material samples using manual mills, lathes, and saws.
• Build and fabricate custom test rigs and fixtures as needed.
• Gather and interpret test data and perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Prepare work orders and documentation in accordance with QAP.
• Maintain lab inventories and procure necessary supplies.

Requirements

• U.S. Persons only (ITAR compliance required).
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Chesapeake, VA.
• 5+ years of experience with strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with manual machining equipment (Bridgeport Mill, Bandsaw, Lathe).
• High School diploma or GED; Associate’s degree is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a material testing laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with welding and fabrication techniques.
