What you will do

• Design and develop scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems and gRPC microservices for the Japanese market.
• Integrate with third-party vendors such as JPX, JSCC, JASDEC, and Japanese banks.
• Adapt core frameworks to support Japan-specific requirements including NISA, MyNumber, withholding tax, and JP-GAAP accounting.
• Coordinate with local regulators and partners in Japanese to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot incidents during Japan business hours to ensure platform stability.

Requirements

• Native or JLPT N1 level fluency in Japanese and Business-level English fluency.
• Proven experience in designing complex financial systems, preferably with double-entry accounting and ledger structures.
• Proficiency in at least one statically typed language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, or C++).
• Familiarity with financial regulatory compliance in Japan (FIEA, FSA, JSDA, JIPF).
• Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven design.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Go (the company's primary backend language).
• Professional experience in the Japanese financial services sector (securities, banks, fintech).
• Hands-on experience with Japan-specific products like NISA, iDeCo, or tokutei-koza.
