TL;DR

Professional Senior Engineering – Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) (Aerospace): Execute complex engineering assignments related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics including detailed analyses, simulations, and certification compliance with an accent on aircraft safety and regulatory requirements. Focus on defining project scopes, resolving issues, reviewing designs, and overseeing tests to ensure electromagnetic protection.

Location: Hybrid of remote from home and on-site work at hirify.global Toronto, Ontario (Pearson Airport) or Montreal, Quebec (Dorval Airport), Canada

What you will do

  • Execute complex analyses using similarity assessments, simulation, or analytical methods for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics.
  • Drive resolution of electromagnetic issues for certification, production, and in-service support.
  • Define EMC scope for projects, plan activities, highlight risks, and analyze system designs for compliance.
  • Review engineering documentation, verify regulatory compliance, and recommend approvals.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members, represent EMC in multidisciplinary meetings, and engage with suppliers.
  • Prepare test procedures, oversee EMC tests globally, and generate certification reports.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or Physics
  • Minimum 8 years experience with systems/structures EMC qualification/certification in aerospace
  • In-depth knowledge of RTCA/DO-160, SAE ARPs, and airworthiness regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA) for EMI, HIRF, etc.
  • Experience in major project/design reviews, identifying EMC risks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work autonomously in teams.
  • Recognized EMC specialist with participation in at least one aircraft development program preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience with fuel tank ignition prevention.
  • French language skills.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Good knowledge of aviation business.
