TL;DR

Electrical Design Engineer (Aerospace): Developing hardware solutions for satellite communication payloads with an accent on high-speed digital interfaces, mixed-signal circuitry, and complex electronic systems. Focus on leading hardware development from concept through production, including schematic design, PCB layout, and rigorous system validation for space-grade technology.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the Toronto office (Hybrid)

Salary: $113,474 - $163,474 CAD

What you will do

  • Develop hardware solutions for satellite technology including optical, Ku-band, and S-band communication protocols.
  • Lead hardware development efforts from concept definition through schematic design and PCB layout.
  • Conduct engineering analyses including derating, reliability, radiation, EMI/EMC, and FMECA.
  • Integrate processors, FPGAs, and SoCs into high-performance embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including RF, mechanical, software, and FPGA engineering.
  • Maintain technical documentation including design specifications, block diagrams, and system architecture reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and validating complex electronic hardware systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent schematic and layout tools.
  • Proven experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, or JESD204B.
  • Hands-on debugging skills using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
  • Ability to design and validate mixed-signal circuitry including ADCs, DACs, and sensors.

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience designing memory subsystems like DDR4, eMMC, or UFS.
  • Knowledge of power distribution and fault-management architectures.
  • Ability to develop interface control requirements for system-level integration.
