Director of Engineering, Automation, Performance & AI Quality (AI quality engineering): Architecting and leading automation infrastructure, performance engineering, and AI-driven quality initiatives across the software development lifecycle with an accent on LLM-powered testing, scalable frameworks, and enterprise reliability. Focus on validating non-deterministic AI outputs, integrating continuous performance testing into CI/CD, and building high-performing multi-team engineering organizations.
Location: Raanana, Israel; hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days working remotely each week

What you will do
- Define and lead AI-augmented quality initiatives, including LLM-powered test generation, triage, root-cause analysis, and responsible AI testing governance.
- Own automation strategy across UI, API, and integration layers, architecting scalable test frameworks and embedding shift-left testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Lead enterprise-scale performance and load testing, define SLOs and SLAs, and drive continuous performance validation with SRE partnership.
- Oversee tooling such as k6, JMeter, Gatling, APM platforms, self-healing tests, and AI-assisted test maintenance.
- Build and manage teams of automation engineers, performance engineers, and architects, including hiring, career development, OKRs, and succession planning.
- Partner with Product, DevOps, and R&D leadership to connect engineering velocity with product reliability.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering or QA experience and 5+ years of engineering leadership at Director level or senior Staff+ level with direct reports.
- Hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch and leading performance engineering for distributed, cloud-native systems supporting 10,000+ concurrent users.
- Experience shipping or operating AI/ML systems and addressing model drift, data validation, and non-deterministic output quality.
- Experience managing multi-team organizations of 10–40+ engineers, including individual contributors and architects.
- Working knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, and AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Java, plus modern CI/CD, observability, and APM tooling.
