Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Lead a high-performing software engineering team within the Activate R&D organization.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices from architecture through production.
• Lead backend system design and implementation using secure, maintainable approaches.
• Build and maintain containerized API services, including development, testing strategy, operations, and deployment.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of product features and components while ensuring performance, uptime, scalability, and code quality.
• Make technical decisions, influence system architecture and development practices, and collaborate with a small cross-functional team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
• 12+ years of backend development experience, including at least 4 years of team management.
• At least 3 years of Python experience and strong experience with React.
• Knowledge of server-side technologies including Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and agentic AI.
• Experience with large-scale SQL and NoSQL databases, including SingleStore and PostgreSQL, and relational databases.
• Fluent English and strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience building agentic AI systems or autonomous agents, including AutoGen, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of ReAct, Chain-of-Thought, tool use, function calling, and agent evaluation and testing.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, GCP, Azure OpenAI Service, or Azure AI services.
• Experience with Agile Development, sprint planning, or Extreme Programming methodologies.
