Legal Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid work from offices in London, Málaga, or Limassol

What you will do

• Lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex commercial agreements with technology partners, vendors, and service providers.
• Advise executives and cross-functional leaders on market data regulation, intellectual property, disputes, data protection, cybersecurity, commercial risk, and regulatory exposure.
• Provide legal guidance on market data usage, redistribution, licensing compliance, and exchange and vendor agreements.
• Own vendor legal governance, including contract status, liability allocation, risk mitigation, and performance obligations.
• Lead global IP protection, enforcement, dispute resolution, and commercialisation matters, coordinating with external counsel when needed.
• Design and scale legal processes, contract management frameworks, policies, playbooks, and training to improve risk visibility and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of post-qualification experience with strong experience in commercial technology, market data, intellectual property, disputes, data protection, and vendor contracting.
• Experience supporting a global technology, fintech, or SaaS business, preferably in a regulated environment involving market data providers, exchanges, or regulators.
• Expertise negotiating commercial, technology, SaaS, cloud, data processing, market data licensing, and vendor agreements.
• Knowledge of IP strategy and protection covering software, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, licensing, and related disputes or enforcement.
• Experience with disputes, litigation, regulatory investigations, data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, GDPR, and cross-border data issues.
• Strong independence, judgement, ownership, stakeholder management, executive communication, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Finance or trading domain experience.
• Familiarity with hirify.global as a product.
• Private practice or in-house experience in a financial services organisation.
• Experience interpreting regulations in foreign jurisdictions or working with market data vendors, exchanges, or financial information services.
