Senior Software Engineer, Simulation (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Remote in the United States; candidates living within a 50-mile radius of Sunnyvale or Mountain View must report to that location three times per week. Relocation benefits may be available for candidates interested in relocating to the Bay Area.

Salary: $129,400–$198,400 per year, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale test infrastructure and evaluation pipelines for autonomous vehicle simulation validation.
• Develop simulation dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into test operations, simulation trust, and health trends.
• Drive simulation quality assessments, standardized processes, and automation integrating automated outputs with human-in-the-loop evaluation.
• Collaborate with Autonomy, Systems, Safety, and customer teams to define simulation validation methodologies and requirements.
• Maintain high standards for code quality and software architecture through code reviews and technical leadership.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and analytics platforms to improve productivity and simulation testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing complex evaluation, simulation, or test frameworks.
• Production Python development experience, including unit testing, code review, performance tradeoffs, and reliability practices.
• Ability to drive technical design and execution across multiple teams in a remote or distributed environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to work remotely in the United States; regular onsite attendance is required near Sunnyvale or Mountain View.

Nice to have

• Experience testing robotics systems or autonomous vehicles and working with simulation frameworks.
• Experience with safety-critical product validation and test strategies.
• Data-driven investigation of anomalies and root-cause analysis of discrepancies.
• Familiarity with SQL, time-series data analysis, performance monitoring, and dashboarding tools such as Looker or Streamlit.
