Environmental Health & Safety Specialist II (Autonomous Vehicles): Provide strategic and tactical EHS support for West Coast facilities, including program ownership, compliance oversight, and regional leadership with an accent on high-risk equipment management, audits, and safety culture initiatives. Location: Mountain View, California (hybrid: in office at least 3 days per week, travel to other US sites <25% of time)
Salary: $92K-$133K per year

What you will do
- Serve as onsite EHS representative and first point of contact for West Coast facilities, scoping and implementing safety projects.
- Manage high-risk equipment inventory, SME oversight, change control, and assurance planning.
- Oversee regional Site Safety Leads including recruitment, training, and performance metrics.
- Maintain expertise in federal, state (CA-specific), and local regulations; ensure compliance in training, hygiene, hazcom, laser safety, waste, and DOT hazmat.
- Conduct JSAs, audits, safety assessments, incident investigations, and emergency planning drills.
- Collaborate with Safety, Workplace, IT, Operations, Engineering teams to integrate EHS into operations and author/enforce policies.
Requirements
- 3+ years dedicated EHS experience in industrial, manufacturing, automotive, R&D, or tech environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
- Strong familiarity with CA-specific regulations, OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI, LOTO, hazcom, fire safety, PPE, emergency response
- Proven ability to prioritize, decide independently, manage responsibilities in high-risk settings
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills; work independently across distributed teams
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to other US sites
Nice to have
- Experience in high-tech, manufacturing, vehicle/fleet operations safety
- OSHA 30-hour, ASP/CSP, 40-hour HAZWOPER certifications (or obtain within 6 months)
- Experience with EHS program development, safety training, change management
- Proficiency with Cority or EHS software; waste/laser/fleet safety
