Senior Counsel (AI Product): Assist with legal initiatives related to advanced AI products, models, and technologies like ChatGPT and Codex, with an accent on product, regulatory, copyright, commerce, privacy risks for agentic work, search, commerce, and multimodal outputs. Focus on advising product teams, identifying and mitigating legal risks, developing creative strategies and scalable processes, and advancing AI legal policy positions.

Location: Based in San Francisco, CA. Hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance offered to new employees.

Salary: $248K – $330K + equity

What you will do

• Be the go-to counsel and partner for teams focused on frontier AI models and products.
• Identify and address product, regulatory, copyright, commerce, privacy, and other legal risks and mitigations, including for agentic, commerce, and multi-modal experiences.
• Develop strategies for handling legal issues creatively and build processes for scaling flexible risk solutions.
• Serve as an expert in AI legal matters and help propose and advance AI legal policy positions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience with a mix of in-house or technology-focused law firm roles.
• Understand the letter of the law and approach problems practically and principled.
• Build cross-functional relationships and communicate to balance risk-taking with responsible development.
• Strong sense of ownership, inquisitive about technology, enjoy challenges, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguity.
• JD and license or qualification to practice in CA.
