TL;DR

Litigation Counsel (AI): Leading the company's litigation function across copyright, IP, and commercial disputes with an accent on the intersection of generative AI and music law. Focus on managing high-profile litigation, coordinating outside counsel, and building internal legal infrastructure for a scaling platform.

Location: Must be based in Los Angeles or NYC and work on-site 5 days a week. Must be eligible to work in the US.

Salary: $225,000 – $325,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Lead the litigation function across copyright, IP, privacy, and commercial disputes in the U.S. and Europe.
• Manage outside counsel relationships, including staffing, budgets, and performance to align with business strategy.
• Partner with business affairs and product legal teams to synchronize litigation strategy with product roadmaps.
• Build internal litigation infrastructure, including case management workflows, legal hold, and discovery processes.
• Execute strategic legal initiatives to shape the company's legal foundation as it scales.

Requirements

• JD and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 7 years of litigation experience at a top law firm or in-house, focusing on complex commercial, IP, or copyright matters.
• Demonstrated experience working in or with the music industry.
• Substantive knowledge of copyright frameworks, including fair use, DMCA, and statutory damages analysis.
• Proven track record of managing case strategy and outside counsel budgets across the dispute lifecycle.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.

Nice to have

• Experience managing litigation in both the U.S. and Europe.
• Prior in-house experience at an AI/ML, content platform, or music company.
• Familiarity with class action and mass arbitration dynamics.
• Experience with privacy, employment, or trust-and-safety disputes.
