Software Development Engineer III (Advertising Technology)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work model with at least three days per week in the office. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $146,000–$204,500 total cash annually in Seattle, with performance-based earning potential up to $233,500.

What you will do

• Build and scale real-time ad serving and ad selection systems across the advertising network.
• Optimize bidding, ranking, pacing, targeting, and relevance for guaranteed and non-guaranteed ad delivery.
• Design scalable, low-latency, high-throughput backend services using strong software engineering principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Integrate ML-driven signals into backend services and collaborate with Product, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data, and Platform teams.
• Promote automated testing, observability, operational reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical design discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience with data-driven systems, ML-powered features, or A/B experimentation platforms.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java or Kotlin.
• Experience building and deploying backend APIs, such as gRPC, and streaming or batch data-processing services, such as Flink or Spark, in cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data flows, and operational best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with search and retrieval systems, relevance ranking, vector databases, embeddings, or AI and semantic search.
• Experience designing agent-to-agent and multi-agent AI systems.
• Background in advertising, marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel platforms.
