What you will do

• Own end-to-end U.S. and international tax compliance and reporting across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Develop and execute tax planning strategies to optimize the effective tax rate (ETR).
• Lead all aspects of ASC 740 income tax accounting, including provisions and deferred tax.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Legal on M&A, equity rounds, and intercompany transactions.
• Build scalable tax infrastructure, including systems, controls, and an advisor network.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate complex tax matters for non-tax stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive tax experience in Big 4 or in-house leadership at high-growth tech or life sciences companies.
• Deep expertise in U.S. federal, multi-state corporate income tax, and international tax.
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 740 and GAAP-compliant tax accounting.
• Proven track record of building in-house tax functions in a scaling environment.
• CPA certification is required.
• Must be based in Cambridge, MA, USA

Nice to have

• Advanced degree (MST, LLM, or JD).
• Experience in Biotech, life sciences, or AI-tech with significant R&D operations.
• Familiarity with R&D tax credits (IRC Section 41) and equity compensation tax.
• International tax experience including transfer pricing documentation.
