Controller (Finance)

TL;DR

Controller (Finance): Own and scale the accounting function end-to-end including close process, revenue recognition, technical accounting policy, audit and tax management, and financial systems with an accent on building GAAP foundation during hypergrowth. Focus on monthly/quarterly closes, ASC 606 revenue recognition for SaaS usage-based models, sales tax compliance, and designing internal controls for first audit.

What you will do

• Own monthly and quarterly close: journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis
• Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606 for consumption/usage contracts, minimum commits, credits, bundled offerings
• Handle sales tax compliance: nexus study, Anrok/Avalara implementation, VDAs, accruals
• Prepare deferred revenue waterfall, RPO reporting
• Manage audit relationship and execution, tax filings, equity accounting (ASC 718), lease accounting (ASC 842)
• Ensure billing system integrity (NetSuite/QuickBooks ↔ Metronome/Stripe), design internal controls for audit and SOC readiness

Requirements

• CPA required — own audit relationship and sign off on technical memos
• 5–9 years of experience: Big 4 Controller or Senior Manager at VC-backed SaaS company
• ASC 606 depth — built/owned rev-rec policy for SaaS with usage-based/consumption revenue
• First audit experience — led company through first audit or managed at Series B/C
• NetSuite experience — implementation or heavy operating
• Startup mentality — build close process from scratch, write policies, handle reconciliations initially
