Cost Engineer

TL;DR

Cost Engineer: Developing, analyzing, and supporting cost proposals for government and commercial customers with an accent on compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA), and company policies. Focus on building pricing models from RFPs, leading proposal teams, reviewing estimates, and preparing presentations for management and audits.

Location: Hybrid schedule required in East Aurora, NY or Salt Lake City, UT (Buffalo, NY area). Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information required. Approximately 20% travel to customers and hirify.global sites.

Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually (Buffalo, NY)

What you will do

• Lead proposal teams and build pricing models based on RFPs and hirify.global requirements.
• Develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, and support cost proposals for compliance.
• Review RFPs and documents for adherence to customer specs, company policy, and FAR.
• Interact with personnel across levels, lead estimate reviews, and present to management and auditors.
• Support audits, negotiations, fact-finding, and front-end business acquisition processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3+ years in cost engineering or related field.
• Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information.
• Practical knowledge of sales/costing principles; excellent analytical, organizational, communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Strong attention to detail; ~20% travel.

Nice to have

• Pricing, sales, or contract experience.
• Data analysis/analytics knowledge.
• Understanding of FAR, DFARS, TINA, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
