What you will do

  • Design rocket motor soft goods, including liners, insulators, inhibitors, and internal thermal protection systems.
  • Lead the architecture and detailed design of soft goods to ensure compatibility with propellant and case materials.
  • Perform thermal, chemical, and structural analyses for high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
  • Develop bonding strategies and optimize material formulations in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
  • Plan and execute subscale and full-scale motor test campaigns and analyze results to drive design improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct root cause investigations related to insulation and erosion failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in rocket propulsion or high-temperature material systems.
  • Strong background in insulation materials, liners, and bonding systems used in solid rocket motors.
  • Proficiency in analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB or ANSYS.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
