Trade Compliance Specialist

TL;DR

Trade Compliance Specialist: Managing the company’s Trade Compliance program, handling export licensing, product classifications, audits, and training with an accent on ITAR and EAR regulations. Focus on creating/submitting DDTC/BIS licenses, approving exceptions/exemptions, processing screenings, and developing compliant solutions for technical situations.

Location: Tampa or Arlington, TX (onsite, US citizens only due to US Government contract requirements; DoD clearance may be required)

What you will do

• Create and submit DDTC and BIS export licenses.
• Provide approvals for BIS exceptions and DDTC exemptions.
• Manage, audit, and train on export authorizations.
• Process foreign travel requests, denied party screenings, visitor approvals, and technical data reviews.
• Collaborate with program managers, designers, and engineers on trade-compliant solutions.
• Support audits, governmental inquiries, and employee training on compliance matters.

Requirements

• US citizen only due to US Government contract
• Bachelor’s Degree or Trade Certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years experience in export licenses and product classifications
• Knowledge of ITAR and EAR
• Technical background for hardware/software jurisdiction and classifications preferred
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and MS Office proficiency
• Ability to work on video calls and travel 2%

Nice to have

• Import/export shipment experience
• Certified export compliance personnel
• Experience filing EEI in AES
• Background in import/export regulations, commodity jurisdiction, and Technology Control Plans
