Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Postdoc in Coastal Infrastructure Reliability (Coastal Engineering): Assessing the reliability and climate resilience of coastal infrastructure systems in Europe using environmental datasets and future climate projections with an accent on the combined effects of marine environmental loads, sea level rise, and system deterioration. Focus on developing probabilistic models for engineering reliability assessment and embedding these frameworks into the EDITO portal for digital marine data services.
Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Delft, Netherlands
Salary: €3,546 – €5,538
Company
(Delft University of Technology) is a top international university combining science, engineering, and design to address global challenges in energy, climate, and digital society.
What you will do
- Develop and apply reliability and risk analysis frameworks for coastal and offshore engineering systems.
- Use advanced statistical and probabilistic methods (Monte Carlo, Bayesian networks, vine copulas) to assess failure probabilities.
- Process large environmental datasets to derive loading conditions and quantify uncertainties under present and future climate scenarios.
- Integrate the developed reliability framework into the EDITO portal for wider accessibility.
- Collaborate with European project partners, contribute to joint publications, and supervise MSc students.
Requirements
- PhD degree in civil, mechanical, offshore engineering, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in the statistical analysis of marine environmental variables.
- Demonstrated experience in the reliability analysis of coastal or offshore engineering systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Matlab.
- Ability to relocate to the Netherlands
Nice to have
- Experience in coastal hydrodynamics and wave modelling.
- Strong record of scientific publications with high analytical and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Culture & Benefits
- Temporary contract for 28 months with a flexible working week (32-40 hours).
- Salary and benefits according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
