TL;DR

Postdoc in Wadden Sea and Estuaries (Civil Engineering): Developing and applying morphodynamic models to predict the long-term development of tidal basins under sea-level rise with an accent on numerical model integration. Focus on upgrading the ASMITA software and using probabilistic simulations to ensure sustainable sediment management and flood safety.

Location: Must be based in or relocate to Delft, Netherlands

Salary: €3,546 – €5,538 per month

Company

hirify.global is a top international university combining science, engineering and design to address global challenges in energy, climate, mobility, health, and digital society.

  • Upgrade ASMITA software to incorporate multiple sediments, tidal divide exchange, salt marsh exchange, and river flow.
  • Perform probabilistic simulations to predict the response of the Wadden Sea and Western Scheldt to sea-level rise and subsidence.
  • Collaborate with Deltares to assess the impact of morphodynamic changes on ecology and flood safety.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary research within the Coastal Engineering section using numerical modelling and field measurements.

Requirements

  • PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Marine Geology, Oceanography, Physical Geography, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Proven record of scholarly contributions via publications or software products.
  • Proficiency in English (written and oral).
  • Strong affinity and demonstrated interest in numerical model development and application.
  • Ability to relocate to the Netherlands.

Nice to have

  • Passion for interdisciplinary research and experience working in diverse, inclusive teams.
  • Strong drive to see complex research projects through to completion.
