Senior Counsel (AI)

TL;DR

Senior Counsel (Legal/AI): Supporting the company during hypergrowth by acting as a broad legal and business partner across the organization with an accent on commercial, product, and strategic legal matters. Focus on building legal infrastructure from the ground up, managing regulatory risks in the AI domain, and scaling internal policies.

Location: Hybrid; must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area (preferred) or Los Angeles

Base Salary: $200,000 - $220,000

What you will do

• Serve as a trusted legal partner for Product, GTM, Operations, HR, Finance, and leadership teams.
• Manage a broad range of commercial matters, including customer, vendor, and partnership agreements.
• Provide practical legal guidance on AI, intellectual property, privacy, marketing, and employment law.
• Develop scalable legal processes, templates, workflows, and internal policies to support growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify legal risks and implement business-friendly solutions.
• Assist with corporate governance, compliance initiatives, and other strategic company projects.

Requirements

• J.D. and active membership in at least one state bar with ability to practice in-house in California.
• 6+ years of legal experience (strongly preferred).
• Experience supporting high-growth technology or startup environments.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Practical judgment to balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with SaaS, AI, privacy, commercial contracting, or regulatory matters in an in-house setting.
