Hardware (PCBA) Design and Verification Intern (Fall 2026)

TL;DR

Hardware (PCBA) Design and Verification Intern (Fall 2026): Support hardware test, debug, and verification of circuit boards for high-speed switching products with an accent on signal integrity measurements, performance validation, and robustness testing. Focus on assisting senior designers with board programming, prototype handling, design documentation, and exposure to Cadence CAD tools and fiber optic equipment.

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Canada (383 Terry Fox, Bldg C)

Pay Range: $25.00 - $34.00 hourly

What you will do

• Support hardware test and debug of new and existing circuit boards.
• Handle board programming, prototype inventory, and component qualification.
• Perform design verification including signal integrity measurements and thermal stress tests.
• Contribute to documentation such as Design Specifications and Test Plans.
• Gain exposure to high-speed digital and analog circuit design using Cadence CAD tools (Concept/Allegro).
• Learn functionality of fiber optic transport equipment and associated test equipment.

Requirements

• Working towards completion of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, test sets).
• Understanding of high-speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design.
• Experience designing and debugging hardware.
• Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools.
