Staff Software Engineer, Simulation Infrastructure (Satellite)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $210,000–$234,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the in-house simulation product team and shape the architectural direction of simulation tools.
• Design and deliver simulation services for business development, mission design, operations, and ground and flight software engineering.
• Integrate physical simulation models into complete products and define performance specifications.
• Use stakeholder and client feedback to drive iterative improvements to simulation products.
• Integrate simulation tools into automated testing campaigns with the Software Test team.
• Improve estimation, planning, success metrics, and engineering alignment while mentoring Simulation and Test engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience in a team environment.
• B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming experience in both a high-level scripting language and a compiled systems language.
• Ability to collaborate with specialized experts on complex, cross-functional products.
• Willingness to work in novel technical domains and strong communication and presentation skills.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

• Numerical simulation, statistical analysis, or Software-in-the-Loop simulation experience.
• Knowledge of Julia, Linux systems administration, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud deployment environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
• Familiarity with orbital satellite operations.
