Lead Engineer, Trading Platform Engineering

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance trading systems using C and Java.
• Engineer performance-critical components across user space and Linux kernel interfaces, including memory, scheduling, I/O, networking, drivers, and filesystems.
• Develop and tune multicast and unicast UDP/TCP networking pipelines, including kernel-bypass and fast-path technologies such as DPDK and XDP.
• Optimize deterministic latency through CPU isolation, thread pinning, NUMA locality, cache awareness, and reduced lock contention.
• Apply distributed systems patterns for total ordering and consistency.
• Profile, debug, and operate production systems using tools such as perf, strace, eBPF, flame graphs, SLOs, performance tests, and runbooks.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Java.
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, memory management, driver models, and scheduler tuning.
• Practical experience with end-to-end latency optimization, jitter reduction, and lock-free or wait-free programming.
• Experience with socket options, buffer sizing, epoll, io_uring, RSS, and NIC queue configuration.
• Understanding of sequencer-based total order broadcast, partial order broadcast, concurrency, synchronization primitives, and memory models.
• Strong measurement and communication skills, with a commitment to rigorous code reviews, mentoring, and clear documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial-market infrastructure, market data, order routing, or FIX and exchange-native protocols.
• Familiarity with PTP or other high-precision time synchronization methods.
• Production observability experience with eBPF and tracing.
• Knowledge of RDMA, NIC offloads, kernel modules, device drivers, low-latency JVM practices, or deterministic garbage-collection tuning.
• Advanced benchmarking experience, including workload design and variance analysis.
