Lead Engineer, Trading Product Engineering (Java)

What you will do

• Design and deliver reusable, reliable, low-latency Java code for the Bullish Exchange.
• Build high-performance trading engine components and backend applications, frameworks, and tools.
• Apply TradFi knowledge across Spot and Derivatives products to ensure functional correctness and market fit.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve throughput, latency, and system reliability.
• Set standards for code quality, automation, and technical design.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, project management, and distributed engineering teams across Hong Kong, Singapore, and other hubs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of Java backend engineering experience focused on front-office execution and trading technologies.
• Expert-level Java 17+, including JVM internals, concurrency primitives, and collections.
• Experience architecting and building low-latency trading systems from the ground up.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, TDD/BDD, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Hands-on experience with Spring or Micronaut, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging technologies, Git/GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of Spot, Futures, and Options markets, plus a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic AI development, including LLM integration, prompt engineering, and SDLC automation.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in cryptocurrency or digital asset products.
