What you will do
- Execute advanced virtual analysis of piston and ring pack behavior, specifically sealing performance and oil consumption.
- Use physics-based simulation tools to evaluate design trade-offs and support engine program decisions.
- Correlate analytical predictions with engine test data and interpret teardown results.
- Independently define modeling approaches, assumptions, and boundary conditions.
- Act as a technical interface between design, test, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis methods, workflows, and organizational standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in ICE piston and ring analysis or development.
- Expertise in blowby, lubricating oil consumption modeling, and hardware validation.
- Strong knowledge of piston secondary motion, tribology, and gas dynamics.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.).
Nice to have
- Experience with MIT Consortium piston and ring analysis tools.
- Proficiency with Realis RINGPAK or AVL-based CAE solutions.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) focused on engines, tribology, or applied mechanics.
- Prior ownership of piston or ring system design decisions through production release.
