What you will do

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, partitioning, indexing, and query strategies for performance and scalability.
• Deploy and manage PostgreSQL on AWS RDS with high availability, multi-region replication, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks, implement monitoring, alerting, and logging for database health.
• Support live production deployments, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and enable CI/CD for database changes.
• Ensure compliance through backups, recovery policies, RBAC, encryption, and audit logging.
• Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on data access patterns and scaling strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related; master’s preferred
• 5+ years PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning experience
• High-volume, transaction-heavy relational databases; SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning
• Multi-region cloud deployments, disaster recovery, upgrades, schema migrations
• Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash, SQL automation)
• Live production support with 24/7 uptime; agile/scrum environment
• AWS RDS for PostgreSQL (replication, failover, backups, scaling); monitoring tools (pg_stat_statements, CloudWatch, Datadog)
• Docker and Kubernetes experience

• HL7, DICOM, or medical imaging data standards
• RDS Proxy, PgBouncer, or connection pooling
• Kafka, event-driven architecture, real-time data processing
