TL;DR

Database Engineer (Postgres): Ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of PostgreSQL database systems with an accent on monitoring, tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning. Focus on troubleshooting complex issues, automating workload analysis, and implementing best practices for database architecture and configurations.

Location: Hybrid role based in New York, NY, USA office (at least 2 days/week). Must be US citizen residing on US soil. No visa sponsorship.

Salary: $128,000 - $160,000 per year

What you will do

  • Analyze and optimize database performance through monitoring, tuning, and query optimization.
  • Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, and right-sizing for scalability.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues like bottlenecks, scalability problems, and data inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with developers, admins, and stakeholders on application requirements and database guidance.
  • Implement automation for repetitive tasks, performance monitoring, and workload analysis.
  • Develop and document best practices for database architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years as Database Performance Engineer or similar.
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL and SQL.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS/GCP (managed DBs preferred).
  • Knowledge of database architecture, replication, and optimization.
  • Basic knowledge of GraphDB, Kubernetes, Linux.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
