TL;DR

Lead Systems Integration Engineer (Medical Imaging): Designing and governing scalable system architectures for medical imaging platforms with an accent on hardware, software, and firmware integration. Focus on applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and solving complex integration challenges to ensure regulatory compliance and clinical performance.

Location: Onsite in Rochester, NY, US. Relocation stipend available.

Compensation: $119,200 - $155,000 per year

What you will do

  • Define and govern scalable system architectures integrating hardware, software, firmware, automation, and data components.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to capture requirements and system behavior with full traceability.
  • Translate clinical, business, and regulatory needs into clear system requirements and architectural solutions.
  • Evaluate architecture options and build-versus-buy decisions based on technical and financial considerations.
  • Lead design reviews and drive trade studies to optimize system performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Drive modeling, simulation, and prototyping to validate architecture and reduce integration risk early in development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems, Mechatronics, Computer, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems architecture or integration within medical imaging, medical devices, or other regulated industries.
  • Strong foundation in MBSE and requirements management.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration, Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and Sim-to-Real prototyping.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Must be based in or be able to relocate to Rochester, NY, US.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of experience in regulated medical device environments.
  • Past experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or solution architecture.
  • Knowledge of regulated development frameworks such as FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and IEC 62304.
  • Advanced experience with digital thread concepts and system-level V&V strategies.
