Captives Claim Accountant (Insurance)

Location: Remote - Maryland

Salary: $51,800–$75,000 annually

What you will do

• Track, reconcile, and analyze loss payments to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Reconcile claims bank accounts and TPA funds held balances, resolving discrepancies across bank statements, disbursements, and accounting records.
• Monitor TPA transactions and ensure all transactions are booked correctly.
• Support accurate month-end and year-end claims-related closings and reporting.
• Identify process improvements that increase financial accuracy and efficiency.
• Partner with claims, accounting, auditors, and cross-functional teams on claims processing and ad-hoc requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience; insurance or financial services experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and insurance claims accounting.
• Proficiency with accounting and financial reporting software.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
