Location: Remote across all U.S. locations with approximately 50% travel to Texas and central U.S. sites; hybrid office collaboration Tuesdays & Thursdays near San Francisco, San Diego, Scottsdale, Houston, Denver, or Princeton; Clearway will not sponsor non-immigrant visas (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).
Salary: $96,000–$115,000 USD

What you will do
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and electrical testing for high voltage substations supporting wind and solar plants in Texas and central U.S.
- Create procedures for lock-out/tag-out, HV switching, safety grounding, and common maintenance tasks like circuit breaker and transformer testing.
- Instruct, train, and assist site personnel on substation equipment and protections; query SEL relays for troubleshooting.
- Review work scopes for planned outages, supervise on-site during major maintenance, ensure resolutions before equipment restoration.
- Supervise contractors, review relay test reports, document modifications, maintain test logs, and evaluate fault reports.
- Support NERC Compliance (PER-006, PRC-004, PRC-005, PRC-025); travel 50% with work truck in region (airline possible).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or technology (power systems focus), OR 5+ years hands-on with substation HV equipment (high school diploma/GED required).
- Formal apprenticeship or equivalent experience/training; working knowledge of MV/HV equipment, lines, substation systems.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, regulations, first aid; experience with HV test equipment for insulation resistance.
- Significant experience reading/interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (tested in interviews).
- Ability to lead training, maintain relationships with stakeholders, query SEL relays; flexible hours; valid driver’s license (Class B/A preferred).

- Experience programming and testing SEL and GE protection relays.
