Senior People Operations Manager (HR Operations): Leading the operational foundation of the People function with an accent on payroll, benefits, and global workforce operations. Focus on scaling HR systems, ensuring multi-state compliance, and automating processes using AI tools.

Location: Fully remote from AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NC, NJ, NY, NV, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, or Ontario, Canada; or onsite/hybrid from Palo Alto, New York, or Toronto.

Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Lead and coach a distributed offshore People Operations support team.
  • Own end-to-end payroll processing, tax withholding, and year-end reporting.
  • Manage the full suite of health and retirement programs, including open enrollment and vendor relations.
  • Oversee global workforce operations and EOR partnerships for international employees.
  • Maintain the federal, state, and local compliance calendar and lead payroll audits.
  • Optimize HRIS data integrity and implement AI tools to automate HR processes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive People Operations experience.
  • Proven track record in a fast-growing startup scaling from 150 to 350 employees.
  • Must be based in the specified US states or Ontario, Canada.
  • Deep understanding of multi-state employment compliance and operational risk management.
  • Experience managing distributed or offshore operations teams.
  • Experience partnering with payroll, benefits, EOR, and immigration counsel vendors.

Nice to have

  • Experience with EOR platforms such as Deel, Remote, Rippling Global, Oyster, or Papaya.
  • Familiarity with immigration support processes and vendor coordination.
  • Advanced HRIS expertise and experience driving process automation.
